George "Joe" Dewalt, Bismarck, died Sept. 15, 2000 in a Bismarck nursing home. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, at Faith Lutheran Church, with Denise Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. tonight at Bismarck Funeral Home, and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church.
George "Joe" Dewalt was born Sept. 14, 1914 in Ashley, to George F. and Rosa Bella (Hart) Dewalt and grew up in the Ashley area. He married Natelia M. Schock on Oct. 5, 1952 in Ashley. He served in the Army during World War II and worked for the North Dakota Highway Department for over 30 years until he retired in 1980.
George is survived by his wife, Natelia "Tillie," two daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah Dewalt Nelligan and Royce Nelligan, Burnsville, Minn., and Marsha Dewalt Hoyos, Tucson, Ariz.; his grandchildren, Joseph and Katy Nelligan, Natalia Hoyos; his sisters, Cleo Lee; his twin sister, Grace Delzer, Irene Johnson, Gladys Hellvig, Rose Rohrer, Edna Reid and Florence Sailor; his brother, Elmer Dewalt; and his stepbrother, John Stetema.
George is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Leona Reule; and his brothers, Chester, Orville, Wilbur and Bill. (Bismarck Funeral Home)
