Services for B.L. Coker were held Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Anderson-Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Kemp, Texas with Dr. Tony Romans officiating. Interment followed the service at Kemp Cemetery. B.L. was born on March 9, 1936 in Corsicana, TX to parents Burnard Lovick Coker and Della Mae Dill and entered into eternal rest on April 30, 2016 at the age of 80. B.L. or 'Coker' as everyone knew him was a man of faith and loved his family dearly. He enjoyed being outdoors, camping and golfing; which he received many trophies for. Coker worked in communications for over 40 years and received many awards and recognitions; too many to mention. He was active in his community; soup kitchen at church, Optimist Club, Just Say No To Drugs program and even McGruff the Crime Dog. Coker was also known as the 'Watchdog' for a local elementary school. He was a member of Faith Fellowship Church; where he would serve as an usher for the men’s breakfast. Coker was a much loved man; who will be missed tremendously be those who knew him.

Coker was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Rita Kay and son Paul Henry Melton.

He is survived by his loving wife Darlene Coker of Athens, son Johnny Lee Coker and wife Karen of Meridian, daughter Charolotte Garcia and husband Link of Athens, son Dwayne Melton and wife Ouida of Corsicana, son Deon Coker and wife Katie of Athens, daughter Debra Ann Foster of Van, 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, sister Joanne Williams of Greenwood, other loving family members and many more friends.
