Luther A. Stout, 79, of Rittman, died Thursday, May 5, 2016, following a lengthy illness at Hospice of Medina County.

He was born September 26, 1936 in Lumberport, West Virginia to the late Junior and Juanita (Bennett) Stout and lived most of his life in Rittman.

Luther served in the U.S. Navy and married Anne Carter on March 20, 1970. They have been happily married for 46 years; she survives.

He was employed by the former Barefoot Sole Company in Wadsworth for 29 years and later by Goldsmith Eggleton for 18 years, retiring in 2005. He enjoyed fishing, playing Santa Claus for Conley’s department store and coaching girls’ softball. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren who were his pride and joy.

Surviving in addition to his wife are sons; daughters; grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brothers; and sister.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Sue Davis and Virginia Ann Stout; son-in-law, Michael McCord; and brother-in-law, Johnie Sterling.

Services will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Auble-Gillman Funeral Home, Rittman with Pastor Jim Copenhaver and Sabrina Salisbury officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Seville.

Friends may call Monday, May 9 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
