A native of Briar Ridge in Spencer County, Kentucky , he was the son of Ellis and Evelyn Seay Jewell, and the widower of Fannie Mae Miller Jewell.
He retired as a butcher from the Southern Star Company in Louisville . A member of the Plum Creek Baptist Church, his memberships also included the Pilgrim Masonic Lodge in Leitchfield.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Mike Jewell.
Survivors include his sons, Robert Jewell and Kenneth Jewell, daughter, Sue , brother, Carl and his faithful dog , Buster.
