Woodall, William L. - Coppell, Tx., 84, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on July 12, 2008. He was born July 29, 1923 at home in the little town of Kirby, Arkansas, to Ocie and Hazel Woodall.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Patricia, along with their 3 children and 4 grandchildren: Michael Woodall of Lewisville, Tx and son Dylan, David Woodall of Huntington Beach Ca. and son Bronson, Stacy and Keith Edwards of Coppell, Tx and their children Ryan and Katie.

After graduating second in his class from Little Rock High School in 1941, Bill worked for a local bank before joining the Navy in 1942. In 1947, he graduated from officers' school at Miami University in Oxford Ohio, where he majored in accounting in order to become a supply officer.

After military service, Bill found employment in 1947 at the Ohio Casualty Group as an auto underwriter. After 2 transfers and 7 years of employment he became a partner with the Cady Insurance Agency in Burlington Iowa, a position he held for eight years. In 1950 he earned the Charter Property and Casualty Underwriter, CPCU, designation. Bill returned to the Ohio Casualty Group in 1961. He advanced in the underwriting career path holding positions as an underwriter in Detroit, Michigan and as field representative in Indianapolis, Indiana. In 1965 he was named branch manager of the Indianapolis Branch Office. He joined the Executive Department of the Corporation in 1968 as an assistant vice president, subsequently holding the positions of vice president, secretary and senior vice president. He was named executive vice president and secretary in 1986 and was appointed to the Board of Directors that same year. He was appointed president and chief operating officer in 1988, maintaining that role until his retirement from active employment in 1991.

He maintained an active role on the board of directors in the position of vice chairman of the board. In 2000 he returned to OCG as president and chief executive officer and shortly afterwards was elected chairman of the board. He retired again in December 2000 from the position of president and CEO and in April of 2001, he retired from the Board of Directors. He was a former board member of the Insurance Services Office (ISO). In April 2002 Cumberland College in Williamsburg Kentucky voted unanimously to bestow the honor of Doctor of Administration for his continued support and service to the college. Cumberland College President Dr. James Taylor presented the honorary doctorate degree to him during Cumberland's annual Honors Day ceremony.

Bill was a godly man who lived a full and satisfying life. He loved his family deeply and enjoyed his work tremendously. He loved to travel, loved good food, and he enjoyed the game of golf. He was a member of The First United Methodist church in Coppell, Tx. where he enjoyed his friends in the JOY group - just older youth.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday July 22, 2008, 2:00p.m.at the Lindenwald United Methodist Church, 3501 Pleasant Ave., Hamilton, Ohio and on Saturday July 26, 2008 at 10:00, the First United Methodist Church, 420 Heartz Ave, Coppell, Tx.

The family would like to thank Southern Care Hospice, Samantha Barnett, Sandi Boland and Dr. Nina Cahan and her staff for their diligent and loving care. Their care made his last days comfortable and memorable and we'll forever be grateful for each precious day we had with him.
