Isabel M. Elzinga, 93, formerly of Ellsworth, died Saturday, April 14, 2007, in Lambertville.
She was born May 22, 1913, in Sault Ste. Marie, the daughter of Alfred Cyrus and Janet (Blake) Roo.
On June 23, 1934, she married Marvin Elzinga in St. Ignace. They made their home in Ellsworth, retiring to Traverse City. Following Marvin's death in 1993, Issy lived in Petoskey.
Issy worked as a clerk at the Ellsworth Post Office for many years. She enjoyed family gatherings, trips to Florida in the winter, and working crossword puzzles. Her family fondly remembers her goulash and banana nut bread.
She was a member of Belltower Reformed Church.
Surviving are her children, Marvin J. "Jim" Elzinga of Conway, Steven (Nancy) Elzinga of Lambertville, and Terry (Young) Elzinga of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter-in-law, Sandy Elzinga of Grand Haven; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, William E. "Chuck" Elzinga.
Private services are planned. Arrangements were made by Hastings Funeral Home in Ellsworth.
