Swedish bishop and poet. Bolander was Bishop of Lund (1958-1959) in the Swedish Lutheran Church Svenska kyrkan. After having served as vicar of Engelbrekt Parish in Stockholm and dean at Lund he became bishop in 1958, but died suddenly of a stroke a year later. He was known throughout Sweden for his very engaging sermons and for the rare filling even of large churches in an era when this was not common in that country. Some of his preaching was recorded on grammophone records and sold well. Bolander was also a poet and author of a number of hymns and religious literature of a more generally popular type. He was married to Vera Silfverstolpe in 1927 and to Bengta Ridderstedt in 1933 and had a total of four children. According to a biography by Carl-Erik Sahlberg, Bolander's father was an extramarital son of King Carl XV of Sweden.
