Mark Thomas Goodson of Candler, NC, beloved husband, father, Popi and friend passed away peacefully at home on May 3, 2016.

Mark was born May 11, 1942 in Candler, NC to Cash and Hilda Goodson. He spent his youth walking the hills of Candler trapping, fishing and playing sports. He graduated from Enka High School (1960), received an AA degree from Mars Hill College (1962) and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from N.C. State University (1964). After satisfying his military obligation in the U.S. Army Reserve he spent the next 13 years working as an engineer in North Carolina & Virginia for various contracting companies. In 1969 he married the love of his life, Carol Moncada, and they had three children. In 1978 Mark founded and was president of Tennoca Construction Company, building roads for NCDOT. The company is now owned by his two sons, Tim and Brad. He loved his wife of nearly 47 years, road building, family, fishing, the outdoors, woodcarving, coaching youth league baseball and basketball, and traveling. He was a very humble and quiet man known for his integrity and love of family. He was a member of Hominy Lodge 491 and of Oak Hill United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 5 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and a memorial service will be Friday, May 6 at 11:00 a.m., both at Oak Hill United Methodist Church.
