US Soldier killed at the Battle of the Little Big Horn. Siemon enlisted into the US Army at Cincinnati, OH, on July 18, 1867. He was described as 5'7", gray eyes, brown hair with a dark complexion. His civilian occupation was blacksmith. On October 2, 1867, Siemon was assigned to Company L, 7th US Cavalry Regiment at Ft Reynolds, CO. He was first assigned to the quartermaster. Later, Siemon became the company blacksmith. At the Battle of the Little Bighorn, Company L was commanded by 1st Lt James Calhoun, LTC George A Custer's and Captain Tom Custer's brother-in-law. At the Battle of the Little Big Horn, Company L was attached to LTC Custer's battalion. Siemon was killed during the fighting. His remains were not identified. It is likely he was first buried where his body had been found on the battlefield. In 1881 all known battlefield burials were moved to a mass grave on Last Stand Hill.
