SHELBY: BILLY CLYDE RUDD, age 66, died peacefully Tuesday Morning, May 3, 2016 in his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born July 13, 1949 in Pekin, Kentucky to Lukes and Inez (Havens) Rudd, Billy has lived in Shelby since 1968. A 1967 graduate of Ezel High School in Morgan County, Kentucky, he was employed with Loveless Gulf Station, Ernsberger Auto, H.F. Skarl Motors and then was employed with Modern Tire retiring after 29½ years of service.

Billy was a generous man, he loved helping others, whether it be through the Shelby Helpline or the benefit pie auction that he started over 20 years ago for the Shriners Burn Institute/Mooseheart. He and his wife Betty were the 2015 Jess Rath award winners and he was extremely proud of that accomplishment. Billy also enjoyed sitting and talking on the front porch with his loving wife, fishing, shooting trap and working in the yard. Although, his greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Joy (Trusty) Rudd whom he wed 47 years ago on June 14, 1968; daughter, Becky (Joe) Given of Greenwich; son, Bradley (future daughter-in-law Raina Pfahler) Rudd of Shelby; two grandchildren, Luke & Brianna Given; three brothers, Lucian Rudd of West Liberty, Kentucky, Danny Rudd and Johnny (Nell) Rudd all of Ezel, Kentucky; as well as numerous nieces nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Barry Scott Rudd in 2009; two sisters, Lena Humphrey and Betty Manning; five brothers, Ray, Bobby, Delmer, L.C. and Dean Rudd.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Rudd Cemetery in Grassy Creek, Kentucky. Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2016 with funeral services at immediately following at 6:00 p.m.
