Wilma Ja (Stephens) Hanna, age 68, of Olney, passed away at 5:03 AM on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 5, 2016 from 10-11 AM in the chapel of Thrasher Family Funeral Home. Funeral will follow at 11 AM in the chapel of Thrasher Family Funeral Home. Pastor Paul Goss will be officiating. Burial will be in Haven Hill Memorial Gardens.

Wilma was born on July 13, 1947 in Olney the daughter of Bruce Allen and Dorothy (Moore) Stephens. She later married Van Patrick “Pat” Harrell on June 8, 1967 in Olney. He preceded her in death on January 15, 1997. She later married Ira T. “Tom” Hanna on August 28, 1998 in Olney. He preceded her in death on September 30, 2003.

She graduated from Robinson High School in 1965 and then attended Career Academy School of Medical Assistant in Chicago in 1966. She graduated from Wabash Valley College in 1996 with a degree in Early Childhood education. She worked as a pre-school teacher at Grace Evangelic Church and Olney Christian Fellowship for many years. She went on a mission trip to Haiti in 1997. She enjoyed acting at Olney Central College and was in the plays Octette Bridge Club in 1989 and Brigadoon in 1990. She was the director of Grace Sticks which was a puppet show from 1996 until 2014 and then became involved with Holy Hands Puppet and Drama Ministry in Charleston, Illinois. She also enjoyed playing Jellybean the Clown. She volunteered at the Olney Public Library for the summer reading program and also played Mrs. Claus for family reading night. She attended First Assembly of God in Olney. She will be sadly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

Wilma is survived by her daughter Stephanie Harrell and husband Eric Leyba of Stansberry Park, Utah; 2 brothers, Jerry Stephens and wife Vicki of Terre Haute and Zon Stephens and wife Cheri of Robinson; brother-in-law Jack Harrell and wife Rebecca of Rexberg, Idaho; 2 sisters-in-law, Darlene Stephens of Flat Rock and Sharon Mullinax of St. George, Utah; 3 grandchildren, Jayce, Joey and Sophia, several nieces and nephews and her special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Bruce and Dorothy Stephens, grandfather Art Moore, 2 husbands, Pat Harrell and Tom Hanna and 2 brothers Warren Stephens and Loren Stephens.
