Services for Kathryn Jane Ray, 96, of Ada, are 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, her grandson, Dr. Travis Muse and Rev. David L. Daniel will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mrs. Ray passed away Sunday, May 1, 2016 in Edmond. She was born February 19, 1920 in Idabel to Austin Rufus and Minnie Pearl Hutchinson Mitchell. She attended Idabel schools and graduated from Idabel High School. She also graduated from Chickasha Women’s College.
She married Chester Arthur Ray in 1941 at Idabel. He preceded her in death July 2, 1971 in Ada. She and her family moved to this area in 1959 from Marietta, OK. Mrs. Ray was a sales clerk for J. C. Penney’s, retiring after 33 years of service. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ada.
Survivors include two sons, David Mitchell Ray and his wife Eddie Joyce of Edmond and Steven Austin Ray and his wife Holly of Olathe, KS; four grandsons, David Muse, Travis Muse, Austin Ray and Trenton Ray; four granddaughters, Jennifer Hurst, Tammy Johnson, Krista McGehee and Lindsay Ray; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a son, Philip Arthur Ray.
