US Soldier killed at the Battle of the Little Big Horn. Pvt Rees enlisted into the US Army on December 5, 1872, at St Louis, MO. He was described as 6'1", gray eyes, sandy hair with a light complexion. His civilian occupation was laborer. On February 13, 1872, Rees was assigned to Company E, 7th US Cavalry Regiment at Unionville, SC. At the Battle of the Little Bighorn, Company E, also know as the Gray Horse Troop, was assigned to LTC George A Custer's battalion. Rees was killed during the battle. His remains were found in the Deep Ravine area of the battlefield. Rees was buried, where he had been found. In 1881 all known battlefield burials were moved to a mass grave on top of Last Stand Hill.
