Douglas Mark Galloway, 53 years young, died on Sunday, May 1st, 2016, in Huntsville, Alabama, after struggling with an illness to his lungs. He was born on September 30th, 1962, in El Paso, Texas, to Jimmie Dale and Martha Ann Galloway. He was a graduate of Butler High School and Southern Institute. Doug worked as an Engineering Technician and Building Manager at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, helping to work on many meaningful space exploration projects. His favorite hobby was deep-sea and big game fishing. He was baptized and confirmed as Douglas Gabriel at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, and was very devoted to his faith. He was a fourth-degree Knight of Columbus. He is survived by his wife, married 30 years, Elissa Torkar Galloway, and son, Mitchell Galloway, as well as his mother Martha Galloway, two brothers John and James Galloway, mother-in-law Mary Torkar, brother-in-law Joey Torkar, two nephews, Justin and Jacob Galloway, three nieces, Autumn Galloway, Hope Galloway Green, and Audrey Torkar, and many friends and colleagues that he considered family. He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmie Galloway.
Doug was truly a man who put others before himself. He was always there to help others and offer honest advice whenever it was needed. He knew that actions – not words, were worth their weight in gold. His family and friends will dearly miss his laugh, his jokes, his hugs, and his warmth. May God bless him eternally.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. Donations can be made directly to Doug’s tribute page at http://pulmonaryfibrosis.donorpages.com/Tribute/DouglasGalloway
