Paul Russell "Russ" Dessieux of Potosi, Missouri passed away on May 2, 2016 at his residence having reached the age of eighty three years, ten months, and eleven days. He was born on June 21, 1932, in Lynn, Missouri, a son to the late Paul B. Dessieux and the late Leora (Ferguson) Dessieux. On August 30, 1952, Russ was united in marriage to Dorothy Lee (Heidbrink) Dessieux.

Russ is survived by his beloved wife Dorothy Dessieux of Potosi; son: Mark Dessieux of Potosi; two daughters: Paula Henderson and husband Jeff of Glendora, California, and Deanna Politte and husband Greg of Chesterfield; sister Virginia Scott and husband Dr. David of Bonnets Mill; eight grandchildren: Josh Henderson and wife Diana, Ashley Schroeder and husband Steven, Jake Henderson, Cole Politte, Carson Politte, Payton Politte, Devin Dessieux, and Dane Dessieux; three great-grandchildren: Jace Henderson, Jaxon Henderson, and Tristen Schroeder; and also surviving are many extended family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, Russ is preceded in death by his brother: Clifford Dessieux; and two sisters: Mary Ruth Morton and Eula Clark.

Russ was a very kind and humble man who enjoyed the simple things in life. He dedicated his life to serving his community and helping others. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and rock collector. He enjoyed gardening and watching his favorite baseball team – the St. Louis Cardinals. He found great pleasure in spending time at his log cabin and lake outside of Potosi with his friends and family. He had a strong sense of community and dedicated much of his time serving his community through various leadership roles – such as: City of Potosi Mayor, Lion's Club, Wildlife association, Washington County Memorial Hospital Board, Phelps County Regional Planning Commission, and Potosi United Methodist Church. Russ spent much of his career in the local barite (tiff) mining industry, first as General Manager for Pfizer at Kingston, Laclede Gas Company in St. Louis, then later at DeSoto Mining, Fletcher Plant. He was deeply loved by his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed for his sense of humor, intellect, love of nature, and passion for his family and friends.

Visitation for Russ was held on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the DeClue Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. A funeral service was conducted on Friday, May 6, 2016 at the Potosi United Methodist Church, at 11:00 AM with Rev. David Lindow officiating. Musical Selections were provided by Donita Skaggs.

Interment and final prayers were held at the Redbud Memorial Gardens. All funeral arrangements were respectfully entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Funeral Home.
