Marjorie Ann was the second child of Stanley Miller Knotts and Florence Ellis Knotts. Marjorie Ann was a "blue baby", born with a hole in her heart. Today, she would have been taken to surgery and would have led a normal life.

In those days, women stayed in the hospital for 10 days after delivery. When little Marjorie Ann died and had to be buried, Grandpa said only he and the pastor stood at the side of the little grave, the rain coming down and mingling with his tears.
He said that he heard God's voice saying, "Do not cry, for I will send you one who is better;" and that three years later my mother was born. He said that she was always a sweet, obedient child and that he often thought of God's promise and little Marjorie Ann.
