Cora Lou Lambert Wright, 87, passed away on May 1, 2016, in Bedford.
She was born on Dec. 26, 1928, in Brownwood to Wilson and Eva Lambert.
She graduated from Brownwood High School in 1947. She attended Daniel Baker College and graduated from Howard Payne University with a Masterís Degree in Elementary Education.
She married Gene Wright on Jan. 28, 1966, in Hurst and they celebrated their 50th anniversary at The Hideout at Lake Brownwood on Jan. 28, 2016. For 32 years she taught in elementary schools in Coleman, Midland and Hurst. After retiring in 1985, she and her husband moved to Lake Brownwood where they resided until they recently relocated to the Fort Worth area. Cora loved gardening, having raised orchids for a number of years. Her passion was handworkócounted cross-stitch, knitting, crocheting, ceramics, stained glass, and making jeweled Christmas stocking for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She mostly enjoyed these talents when making them to give to someone else, keeping very few for herself.
She is survived by her husband, Gene Wright of Grapevine; two daughters, Camie Ward of Arkansas, and Robin Alvarado and husband Alex of Colleyville; four grandchildren, Neil Ward and wife Emma of Salina, Kan., Tara Singletary and husband Jayson of Surprise, Ariz.; four great-grandchildren, Jack and Eden Ward, Jaxon and Sawyer Singletary; and one sister, Janice Hixon of Lake Brownwood.
