Breckenridge: Joseph Charles Goodwin, 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 11, 2006, in Oakland, California. Joe had been a longtime resident of both Monahans and Odessa. Joe was born November 24, 1917, to Albert and Faye (Stewart) Goodwin at their home in Stephens County, Texas. He married Delora Faye Carey on April 8, 1942, in Albany, Texas. He served as a U.S. Navy Seabee during World War II. Joe was employed with Gulf Oil Corporation (Chevron Oil) for 42 years before his retirement. He loved to play golf, and was an avid fan of the Texas Longhorns, Boston Red Sox and the Boston Celtics. He was preceded in death by his wife, Delora Faye, his parents, Albert and Faye, and one sister, Lucille Attaway. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Brooks of Yuma, Arizona; Two grandsons and their wives, Joel and Tammy Gallimore, of Chula Vista, California, and Brian and Lori Gallimore of Oakland, California; Two great-grandchildren, Jordan Ashley Gallimore and Brian Patrick Gallimore, of Chula Vista, California; One sister, Billie Marie Jones of Breckenridge, Texas and her family. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 17, 2006, at Caddo Cemetery outside of Breckenridge. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Melton Kitchen Funeral Home in Breckenridge.
