TWO PIONEER CITIZENS PASS

Simpson County lost two of its esteemed pioneer citizens Tuesday, when Mr. W. H. Hicks and Mr. Dick Brooks passed to their reward.

Both were about 75 years of age and both had been in a low state of health for many months, and their deaths were not entirely unexpected. Mr. Hicks, "Uncle Hub," as he was familiarly known, will be carried to Sharon church, east of Magee, for burial today, while Mr. Brooks was interred at Macedonia cemetery yesterday.

Mr. Hicks is survived by his wife and one son and one daughter, Mr. W. L. Hicks, of Parchman, and Mrs. K. Thames of Jackson; and three grand-daughters, Mrs. W. H. Lyon and Mrs. W. C. Mahaffey, D'Lo, and Mrs. Lawrence Westmoreland, of Mendenhall.

Mr. Brooks is survived by his wife and four children: Mr. E. J. Brooks, Jackson, E. M. Brooks, Arkansas; Mr. H. L. Brooks, Sr., and Mrs. O. E. Berry, of Mt. Zion, besides a host of relatives and friends. The News tenders condolence to the bereaved families in their sorrow.
