Norma Lee Pendergrass Carpenter was welcomed home by her Lord and Savor Jesus Christ on Sunday May 1, 2016 surrounded by her loved ones.
Norma was a lifelong resident of Ringgold, GA where during her work life she was known for her sparkling eyes and welcoming smile as a sales associate at Abney’s Pharmacy.
Norma loved her family, friends, flowers and yard animals. She never ceased to be amazed at the beauty of God’s creation. Norma was an active member of New Bethel Baptist Church of Ringgold.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Ralph W. Carpenter; parents Norman and Ola Pendergrass; brothers Byron, Nicky and Tommy Pendergrass.
Norma is survived by her son Meredith (Lynn) Carpenter of Tunnel Hill, GA; daughter Glenda (John) Henegar of Chattanooga; grandsons David (Amy) Carpenter, Ringgold; John Henegar, III and Christopher (Megan) Henegar, Chattanooga; Greatgrandchildren Austin, Noah, Reese, Kaylee and Ivey Carpenter, Ringgold; sisters Peggy Young, Hixson, TN, Mary (Bob) Lauthan, Rathdrum, ID, Nora Adams, Muscadine, AL.
The family would like to thank the members of New Bethel Baptist Church for their faithfulness and devotion to Norma as well as those who provided for her care with kindness and love.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to New Bethel Baptist Church and/or Hospice of Chattanooga.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel with Rev. Sam Dillard and Rev. Don Self officiating. Interment will follow at the Anderson Cemetery in Ringgold. Visitation will from 4 – 8 PM Tuesday and 11 -1 PM Wednesday at Heritage Funeral Home Battlefield Parkway, Ft. Oglethorpe.
