James "Jim" Cecil Wilhite, 76, of Springfield died Wednesday, May 17, 2006.

He was born May 14, 1930, in Garfield, Benton County, Arkansas to James Andrew Wilhite and Mintora Abigail (Lee) Wilhite Stephenson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jesse Paul Wilhite; two sisters, Betty June Wilhite, Juanita M. Irsik; a nephew, Dennis Irsik.

He actively served in the U.S. Navy from 1947 until 1962, when he was honorably discharged. Sevice included USS WRIGHT(CV149) and USS CONSTELLATION
(CVA-64). During his service he received the Presidential Unit Citation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal
and Korean Service Medal.

Survivors include his wife, Karen S. (Dunkel) Wilhite of the home; a son, James Andrew Wilhite of Springfield, MO; two daughters, Sharon Sue Day of Wheatland, MO. and Kristy Charleen Trimmell of Springfield, MO; four grandchildren, Ashley Nicole Day and Mikall Anthony Day of Independence, MO. Galen K. Trimmell and Kaitlyn L.C. Trimmell; niece and nephew, Stephanie Irsik and Ray Irsik Jr. both of Colorado.
