VALENTINE, Margaret Jones, a native of Richmond, Va., peacefully passed away on April 28, 2016, at age 96. Born February 8, 1920, she was the widow of John Morgan (Jack) Valentine III, who passed away on December 30, 1994. Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Fred Whaley Jones and Bertha Dobbins Jones of Richmond; her sister and brother-in-law, Frances Jones Malone and Robert (Bob) Sherrod Malone Sr., of Springfield, Va.; and many aunts, uncles and a host of cousins. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, Richmond, Va., in 1938, where she was a member of SKP Sorority and other school clubs. She also graduated from Pan American Business School. Margaret is survived by her daughter, Judith Valentine Frayser; her son, John Frasia Valentine and his wife, Diane Baran Valentine; her granddaughter, Victoria (Tori) Morgan Valentine, all of Richmond. She is also survived by her grandson, John Edward Valentine and his wife, Sharon Moses Valentine, of Brunswick, Ga.; her nephew, Robert (Bob) Sherrod Malone Jr., of Flagstaff, Ariz.; her first cousin, Patricia Hudson Stone and her family of Mission Viejo, Calif.; her brother-in-law, A. Watson Valentine and his wife, Dorothy (Dot) Smith Valentine, of Richmond; and their children of Ashland, Goochland and Montpelier. Margaret was a WWII bride. She and Jack traveled the East Coast going to different Army Air Corps bases, where he was stationed, until the end of the war. Margaret survived breast cancer in 1963 at age 43. Throughout her life, Margaret was a member of various organizations including Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, where she began attending in 1926. She joined the church in 1932 and at her death was the longest-standing member (90 years). She also belonged to The Highland Park Woman's Club in the early 1950s, The Ginter Park Woman's Club, The Ginter Park Community Building, The Richmond Forum, The Richmond Interfaith Counsel, and volunteered for many years reading to and being with the young patients at The Children's Hospital of Richmond to name a few. Margaret would say, "Let me live in a house by the side of the road and be a friend to man," words she lived by on a daily basis. Visitation and viewing will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 1, at Bliley's-Staples Mill, (804) 355-3800, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., Richmond, Va. Interment will be private. Margaret's Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at her former residence, The Symphony Manor Assisted Living Community (formerly The Lynmoore Assisted Living Community), 12411 Gayton Rd., Henrico, Va. 23238, (804) 741-9494, where she was dearly loved by all, on Tuesday, May 3, 2 to 4 p.m., followed by a reception.
