Mrs. Hoover was born on Aug. 9, 1922 in Raymond, a daughter of Carl J. and Myrtle L. Reineke Hitchings. She married Robert L. Hoover on June 6, 1943 at the Presbyterian Church in Gibson City. He died on April 13, 1990.
She is survived by a son, Robert E. (Linda F.) Hoover. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Evelyn attended Illinois State University, obtaining her teacher's certificate and a master's degree. She taught first grade in Sibley in 1942 and then taught second grade in Drummer/Gibson City School Unit from 1943 to 1966.
She then managed and taught in the Materials Center, located in Gibson Grade School, until she retired in the mid-1980s.
She also created and taught in the Migrant School Program.
