Edwin Alexander Fuller, Jr., age 82, of Pine Bluff,
passed away Sunday, May 1, 2016. He was a true gentleman, and a friendly, kind person who never met a stranger. We will miss him and his smile greatly, but he leaves a legacy of love, genuineness, honesty and hard work, along with a positive outlook on life.

Born September 27, 1933 at Princeton (Dallas County), Arkansas, his parents were the late Edwin Alexander “Al” Fuller and Eloise Mann Fuller. He moved from Princeton to Sheridan when he was in the third grade, and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1952 where he was president of the Student Council. He faithfully attended every school reunion until his health began to decline.

As he would say, he “matriculated” for one year at Hendrix College, and decided that college was not his cup of tea. He moved to Pine Bluff in 1953, where he started a 42-year career with Arkansas Mill Supply Company. He retired in 1995 and enjoyed doing whatever he wanted to do.

He started his “second career” with his son, Chuck, soon after his retirement in the operation of Fuller Funeral Company prior to the acquisition of and subsequent merger with Hale-South Funeral Home. This role was a perfect fit, and he was present for virtually every visitation and funeral for the past 18 years. It was a comfort for people to come in and see his familiar face.

Ed was a member of First United Methodist Church for over sixty years, serving on the administrative board and as an usher for many years. He was also a Mason for over 50 years, and a past potentate of the Sahara Shrine.

Many of his happiest times were spent in Princeton, Arkansas at Hillcrest Farm, which had been in the family since the 1890’s.

Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Bill Fuller.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Connie Corkill Fuller, whom he married on January 1, 1958; his children, Charles E. “Chuck” Fuller and wife Nancy of White Hall, and Miriam Fuller Hughes and husband Bill of Oak Island, North Carolina; a sister, Sarah Fuller Mann and husband Don of Siloam Springs; a sister-in-law, Rosemary Fuller of Hot Springs; and four grandchildren, Edwin Spencer Fuller of Plano, Texas, Caroline Fuller of Little Rock, Rachel Hughes of St. Louis, and Maggie Hughes Brewster and husband Daniel of Conway; along with many other loving family and friends.

Funeral services will be Thursday, May 5, 2016, 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Morey and Rev. Pam Estes officiating. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery by Fuller Hale-South Funeral Services.
