Bill was born on June 24, 1923, in Charlottesville, VA, a son of the late Marchall and Mary Haffelfinger Timberlake. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Hartsville, SC where he served as Sunday school teacher, Deacon, and Elder. A native of Charlottesville, Virginia, he came to Hartsville in 1944 to work with his uncle, Crawford G. Timberlake. He was a graduate of Woodberry Forest School and the University of Virginia.

He first worked at the Hartsville Ice and Fuel Company, and when World War II ended, he managed the Texaco distributorship for his uncle. In 1952, following his uncle’s death, he was appointed the Ford dealer for Hartsville, a business he remained in for thirty years. He served as Trustee of Coker College, the Presbyterian Home of South Carolina, and as a Director for several local businesses.

Upon his retirement from active business in 1986, he was active as a volunteer for the Hospital Auxiliary serving as treasurer and was one of organizing members of the Darlington County Habitat for Humanity, where he also served as treasurer for several years. He enjoyed many times spent with friends and family hunting, playing golf and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Olive Hinnant Timberlake, to whom he was married for over 71 years; daughter, Mary Alice Timberlake King (Julian); son, Crawford Goodman Timberlake; daughter, Patricia Timberlake (Deke) Montgomery; granddaughters, Elizabeth Marshall King and Anna Lee Timberlake; grandsons, Merritt Goodman King, William Jenkins Montgomery and Lawton Timberlake Montgomery; great granddaughters, Savannah McKenzie and Madelyn Lee Fields.
