Elaine E. Koerner King 86 of Belle Fourche, SD passed away April 13, 2016. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday June 21, 2016 at the Huron, SD Congregational United Church of Christ. Burial of her cremated remains will be in the Rest Haven Cemetery at Alpena, SD. A second memorial service will be held Thursday June 23 at 10:30 am at the United Church of Christ in Belle Fourche, SD Elaine was born to Walter and Marie (Dethlefs) Sheffield in Alpena, SD on June 26, 1929. She attended country schools around Alpena and Wessington Springs. She graduated from Wessington Springs High School. On February 27, 1949 she married Harold Koerner of Alpena and lived on the farm north of Alpena. To this union three children were born: Lucinda, Lydell, and Lisa. After Harold’s death she later married Willis King. She is survived by her three children Lucinda (Donald) Ditmeyer of Mill Creek, WA; Lydell (Kathy) Koerner of Belle Fourche, SD; and Lisa (James) Valentine of Shertz, TX; grandchildren Melissa (Dan) Smith, Eric (Jamie) Ditmeyer, Adam Koerner, Ryan (Heather) Koerner, and Travis Koerner; two great grandsons Skylar and Noah Koerner; two sisters Beverly Johnson and Linda Kowalski and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband’s Harold Koerner and Willis King; 3 brothers LuVerne, Keith, and Dean, her sister; Lorraine Drake; and a granddaughter-in-law DJ wife of Adam Koerner.
