Ruben was my cousin. He was a wonderful, wonderful man. His cheerful, positive attitude will be truly missed by everyone who knew him. He loved a good joke, always had a good word for you and if there was a need, he was right there offering his help. I recall one Saturday afternoon I was in town at my sister's house Birdie, and Ruben called and said he was coming over and did we need anything. Of course we are always in need of a cold Pepsi. Bless his heart he came with Pepsi and we sat on the front porch and talked all afternoon. He always did stuff like that all the time. Such a sweetheart. Ruben was born to Oscar and Nellie Green Robinson. He moved to Danville in 1966 upon completing a 4 year tour of duty with the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked for General Motors Corporation and retired in 1999. Ruben was a member of UAW Local 579. He loved watching TV, his favorites being all kinds of sports and Matlock. He loved the blues, especially Nancy Wilson. He also enjoyed cooking, bowling, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. Ruben was a very humble and easy going man. Ruben leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife Helen; one son, Yantz Allen (Michelle) Robinson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two daughters, Yolanda Nicol 'Nicci' Robinson and Aletha Soliben; four brothers, Robin (Margaret) Robinson and Clarence (Ora) Robinson, both of West Memphis, Arkansas, William (Annie) Robinson and CL( Cornelia) Robinson, both of Danville; five sisters, Mattie (William) Fletcher, Lucille King, Evelyn (Johnny) Whetstone, all of Danville, Eugena (Jay) Williams of Chicago, Illinois and Myrtle (Jack) Patterson of West Memphis, Arkansas and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Oscar Jr.
