Mrs. John B. Wright of Portertown passed from earth to heaven last Friday afternoon, August 14, 1896. Mrs. Wright was born in this township, near this place, on February 24, 1845, being over 51 years of age at her death. She was a daughter of John C. Johnson and was married to John B. Wright on December 24, 1872. A husband, 6 children, 2 brothers, and 4 sisters survive her. Mrs. Wright lived and died a true Christian lady. She was admired and respected by everyone. Besides being a devoted wife, a kind an affectionate mother, she was a good neighbor. Everybody loved, and esteemed Mrs. Wright and will miss her from their midst. About 2 months ago she went to California on a visit to relatives and returned home by way of Louisiana. On her way back on the train she took sick with the flux, which complicated with other diseases ended her earthly career as stated above. The funeral services were conducted at the residence at 2 o'clock last Sunday afternoon, by Rev. John E. Wright of Dana, after which her remains were followed by a large concourse of friends and relatives to the Johnson Cemetery, 2 miles northeast of here, and there laid away to await the morn of the resurrection.
