Bianca Davis a 23 year old Cecilia, LA native, graudated from Texas college in May and returned home to Louisiana. She combined her passion for education, sports and children into her first job after college: directing the Breaux Bridge Youth Sports Camp. The camp was in need or revamping and Breaux Bridge Mayor Ricky Calais needed help and that's when they brought Bianca said Mayor Ricky Calais.

Ricky Calais remembers her as a vivacious young woman who wore orange rubber bands on her braces. He also remembers her as having fire and passion. In just 10 days of having the opportunity to run the camp, she would triple the enrollment of the children from 80 to 238. "She was amazing to watch" said Calais, of the lifelong basketball player, who reverted to being a tomboy that she had with her while playing with the children.

But Breaux Bridge Elementary School-where the 5 day, month long camp was held was closed Monday, June 15. 2015, in honor of Bianca because of a stray bullet that killed her. It happened on Saturday, June 13, 2015 after midnight at a party where she was chaperoning three teenagers away from a private dance in St. Martinville that had turned violent. A fight had broke out at The Casino Lounge on Main Highway, and after officers sprayed mace into the crowds "the first shots ranged out" St. Martinville Police Chief Calder Hebert said.

Daijuan Stewart a 21 year old from Baldwin who was DJing at the party was shot in the abdomen. That's when Bianca ran out to her car and signaled her cousins to meet her. As Bianca drove away with the three teens in the car, her sister Darnel Wiltz heard 10-12 shots. Wiltz who lived around the block was at the party with her own children. Then she got the call Bianca had been shot.

It was 12:27 a.m. when Darnel made it to the car to cradle her sister in her arms. A bullet had penetrated the rear passenger window of her car. Grazing a 14 year old cousin's arm. As for Bianca she was wounded behind her right ear and lodging into her left eye. On Sunday, June 14, 2015, police officers arrested 18 year old twin brothers, Jakil and Jamir Sophus of New Iberia in the shooting.

Jamir Sophus was booked on a count of second degree murder and two counts of second degree murder is accused of firing the shot that killed Bianca and wounding her teenage cousin. Jakil Sophus was booked on a count of attempted first degree murder and aggravated second degree battery is accused of firing the shot that injured Daijun Stewart.

Bianca wanted to give back to kids because of the opportunites she had growing up. "She was amazing", added the mayor. He also added that, he knew her for five or six weeks but it was like knowing her his whole life. She was a point guard for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Ragin Cajuns women's basketball team from 2010-2012. She finished her degree at Wiley College in Marshall, Texas, where she helped the Lady Wildcats make their first appearance at the National Association of Intercollegiate Atheltics Women's Basketball Champions.

"Basketball was her life" said her sister, Darnel Wiltz. She made friends with everyone she came in contact with.
