Lizzie Johnson, 86, of Gordo, formerly of Eldridge, passed away at her residence on Friday, April 29, 2016.

Visitation will be held today, May 1, 2016, from noon until 2 p.m. at Kilgore Green Funeral Home, with funeral services immediately following at 2 p.m. Burial will take place at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Fayette County. Mark Howell will officiate.

Johnson was born on Oct. 17, 1929, in Fayette County. She graduated from Hubbertville High School.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Vaudie Johnson; infant daughter, Brenda Lee; parents, Sam and Lou Jane Dozier; four brothers, Jim, Clyde, George and Howard; and two sisters, Florence and Lula Mae.

She is survived by her daughter, Alice Faye Hubbert; granddaughters, Becki Hubbert and Michelle Higginbotham (Bart); great-grandchildren, Sawyer Higginbotham and Barkley Higginbotham; nieces, nephews and cousins; most special and loved friends, Larry and Maylene McWhirter, who Mama considered her “other children”; and last, her beloved and constant companion, her little dog Sugar Baby.
