Richard W. McCall, age 79 of York, NE, died Friday, April 29, 2016 at Fairview Manor in Fairmont, NE. He was born June 21, 1936 in York, NE to Francis and Fern L. (Galusha) McCall. Richard had served in the Army from January 1955 to January 1958 with the 82nd Airborne Division. On August 20, 1955, Richard was united in marriage at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington, NE.

After marriage, the family lived at Fort Bragg while in the military. They then moved back to Nebraska, where he worked for Sears. He was then transferred to Joplin, MO where he worked at Sears for the next year. He then went to St. John’s Regional Medical Center where he was employed as Director of Environmental Services. After eleven years they returned to Nebraska, due to his mother’s declining health. Richard went to work for Centennial High School as director of building and grounds. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in York since 1979. He was also a participant in the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife; four daughter & son in laws, one son and daughter in law. Also surviving are three sister & brother in laws, two brothers & sister in laws. One brother in law, many cousins, nieces and nephews, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in-law Bruce Bernt and Larry Galaway, sister-in-law Barbara Blocher, niece Kristen McCall, and great grandson Gabriel Hosfelt.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial with military services will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, York.
