Martha married Fred Hugh Maynard on November 24, 1953 at the New Harmony Baptist Church in Brown County Indiana. It was his 24th birthday and her 20th. Their wedding cake said Happy Birthday and had candles along with sugar bells.
Martha and Fred became long time members of the Seventh-Day Adventist church and had 3 daughters.
She was a youth teacher, church secretary, and a very active member of the Democratic party. She was a volunteer in many social activities and ran her own daycare business after being a secretary to one of the Vice Presidents at Arvin Industries.
