Challence Maloney served in the U. S. Army Corps as a bomber pilot during World Was II. In 1950, he married Ruth Carla GLAZIER; two daughters were born to the marriage. The marriage ended in divorce in 1966, and Challence married for a second time in 1967. He was a petroleum engineer in California for 20 years, working for Standard Oil of California. In the last year of his life, he lived in Phoenix and was a sales engineer for Standard Insurance Company. He was a Lutheran and was active in the Elks. He was survived by his mother (Mrs. Dora Maloney), by his two daughters, by a brother and a sister, and by his second wife.
