Ray J. Barrera, Sr. of Charlotte passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016 at the age of 64. He was born December 31, 1951 in Jourdanton to Emilio and Hortencia (De La Garza) Barrera. Ray is survived by his loving wife, Paula (Cumpian) Barrera; sons, Charlie Castillo and wife Elizabeth and Raymond Barrera, Jr.; daughter, Cindy (Barrera) Alcorta and husband Manuel and brothers, Balde Barrera, Emilio “Bear” Barrera, Jr. and wife Glenda and Eliseo “Cheo” Barrera and wife Rachel. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Bryce McHazlett, Amanda McHazlett, Hannah Barrera, Rayven Barrera, Cornelio Castillo and Imelda Castillo. Ray in proceeded in death by his parents, Emilio and Hortencia Barrera; brother, Oscar Barrera and sister, Olga Alamarez. Visitation will be held at Hurley Funeral Home, 118 W. Oaklawn Road in Pleasanton on Monday, May 2, 2016 from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm with service led by Ernest Beavens at 7:00 pm.
