David Lewis Hibbs was born on Friday; April 22, 1988 in Marshalltown; Marshall County, Iowa. He was the son of Jeff and Christy (Gunderson) Hibbs. He attended the West Marshall Elementary School and lived in rural Albion until moving in 1996 to Childserve in Johnston; Polk County, Iowa. David then attended Johnston Elementary and Middle Schools. Throughout his lifetime David enjoyed school and music, especially the piano. David enjoyed people and loved to ride with his father in their pick-up truck on country gravel roads. He was a member of the Challenger Baseball League of Boone; Boone County, Iowa and the Bangor Liberty Friends Church in Bangor; Marshall County, Iowa. David is survived by his parents Jeff and Christy, his sister Hannah, his maternal grandparents: David and Carol Gunderson of Union and Beth and Harry Wilson of Marshalltown, his paternal grandparents Louis and Susie Hibbs of Marshalltown and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. David was preceded in death by his brother Tyler, his sister Kate, a brother in infancy, his maternal great-grandparents: Kenneth and Evelyn Lyon, Ralph and Edna Gunderson and Mel and Lou Hannusch, his paternal great-grandparents: Craig and Mary Zimmerman and Russell and Edna Hibbs. Services will be held at: 10:00 A.M., Thursday, June 23, at the New Hope Christian Church in Marshalltown. Following services, burial will be at the Marietta Cemetery. Visitation times are: 5:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June, 22, at Pursel-Davis Funeral Home & Crematory where his family will be present to greet friends. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed in his name to either the Blank Children's Hospital or Childserve in Johnston, Iowa.
