Margaret “Peggy” Ann Myers, 74, of Westminster passed away in the presence of her family on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at University of Maryland Medical Center’s Shock Trauma Unit.
She was born on January 25, 1942 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and was the daughter of the late George T. Kiser and the late Ruthanna Flickinger Kiser. She was the loving wife of her high school sweetheart, John Preston Myers, Jr., her husband of 51 years.
Peggy was a Class of 1960 graduate of Taneytown High School and earned her Bachelor of Arts from Towson State College (now Towson University) in 1964. After graduation, she worked for several years as a teacher in the Baltimore County elementary public school system and did so again after raising her children.
She enjoyed puzzles and games, traveling, dogs, and gardening. She was renowned for her baking and cooking, to include the very best zucchini bread, fried oysters, and mashed potatoes with sauerkraut. She was a loyal fan of her grandchildren’s baseball, hockey, and soccer games; as well as the Orioles, Capitals, and Ravens. She and John routinely traveled up to eight hours round trip to attend their grandchildren’s games. She was a dedicated and perfectionistic scorekeeper for her husband’s Carroll Gray Senior Softball team and attended all their games throughout the greater Baltimore area.
Surviving in addition to her husband are cousin, Pat Flickinger Hynds of Columbia, South Carolina; brother-in-law James Myers and sister-in-law Amy Myers of Mt. Airy, Maryland; her children Kevin Myers and wife Stacey Myers of Arlington, Virginia; Julie Lohman and husband Mark Lohman of Midlothian, Virginia; grandchildren Kylie Myers, Nate Myers, Dylan Johnson, Chloe Lohman, Elliot Lohman; great granddaughter Lillian Rowan; niece Stephanie Hagan and nephew Joel Myers.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster; and Wednesday, May 4, 2016 from 10 am until the start of the funeral service at 11 am at Krug Chapel at Carroll Lutheran Village, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster, Maryland with Rev.
