Matthew Eugene Conley was born on Monday; June 26, 1961, in Des Moines; Polk County, Iowa. Matt was the son of Owen and Delores (Minnehan) Conley. He was raised and educated in Marshalltown; Marshall County, Iowa. Matt graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1981 and then attended Commercial Art School in Omaha; Douglas County, Nebraska. He was united in marriage to Lynne Petrie on Saturday; May 26, 1984. Matt and his family moved from Omaha back to Marshalltown in 1986 to take over the family business, Conley Dental Laboratory. Matt was a member for several years of the Southern Chinese Boxing Academy and was active in Kung Fu and Tai Chi. During the year of 2004, Matt competed in the Tai Chi Nationals and received 2nd place. Matt was active in the Marshalltown community. For years Matt enjoyed creating a Halloween display for several generations of trick or treaters on Blossom Lane. Matt and his wife performed as Easter bunnies "Buddy and Crystal" in downtown Marshalltown during the Easter holidays. Matt also performed as a Polar Bear for 1st Rate Real Estate during many community functions. Matthew Eugene Conley, age 44, of Marshalltown passed away on Friday; July 8, 2005. Those left to mourn his passing are his wife: Lynne. His daughter: Vanessa and son: Josh. His parents: Owen (Delores) Conley, all of Marshalltown; Marshall County, Iowa. His two sisters: Cecilia Conley of Santa Fe; Santa Fe County, New Mexico and Margaruite (Jeffrey) Edelnant of Reno; Washoe County, Nevada. His brother: Gregory (Lisa) Conley of Madrid; Santa Fe County, New Mexico. His mother-in-law: Pat Petrie of Marshalltown, Iowa. His three brothers-in-law: Jack (Kristi) Petrie of Haverhill; Marshall County, Iowa. Jim (Renee) Petrie of Waverly; Bremer County, Iowa and Rob (Angie) Petrie of Laurel; Marshall County, Iowa. His sister-in-law: Tina (Jeff) Kasal of Brooklyn; Poweshiek County, Iowa. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of many friends. Matt was preceded in death by his grandparents Owen (Margaret) Conley and Jack (Helen) Minnehan. May they rest in peace. Visitation times will be from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday; July 12, 2005 at the funeral home. Funeral services will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday; July 13, 2005, at the Center Street Baptist Church located at 1202 Center Street. Burial will follow services at Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown. Memorial contributions may be directed in his name to his family.
