Eugene Joseph Comey of Alexandria, VA, born in Jersey City, NJ, died peacefully in the company of his family on April 22, 2016. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Flanagan; his sons, Mairtin and Aedan; his daughter, Caelinn; daughter-in-law Kathleen Comey; his brothers, John and Thomas Comey (Retired Chief, JCPD); and his sister, Margaret Barkala. He was predeceased by his brother, James.

Prior to leading his own successful law practice, Gene served as editor-in-chief of the University of Chicago Law Review and clerked for Supreme Court Justice Lewis F. Powell Jr. He was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel in recognition of his work representing the families of coal mine disaster victims. Gene will also be remembered fondly as a Ghostbuster and as Santa Claus. He made annual trips to Ireland where he would spread Christmas cheer and give presents to needy children and their families. He brought joy to his many friends and to so many others.
