Neil B. Cheney, 94, of 9119 Park St., a native of Oswego and retired machinist, died at 3:35 p.m. Wednesday in the Madonna Home, Watertown, after a lengthy illness.
A funeral Mass will be said at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Frances Church with the Rev. Raymond McVey officiating. Burial will be in the Wesleyan Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Summerville Funeral Home, Sandy Creek.
Contributions may be made to St. Frances Church of Lacona.
Surviving are his wife, Elma; three sons, James, Syracuse, Neil J., Potsdam, and John, Redfield; two daughters, Mrs. Terry (Marilyn) Crast, Lacona, and Mrs. John (Linda) Halstead, Pulaski, and 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Three brothers and a sister died previously.
He was born Dec. 2, 1898, in Oswego, a son of Fred and Delia Enright Cheney. He attended Oswego schools.
He married Elma G. Yerdon April 8, 1939, in Syracuse. The couple lived in Syracuse and Redfield, and had been residents of the Sandy Creek-Lacona area since 1950.
Mr. Cheney was a machinist for the Continental Can Co., Syracuse, and the Larabee Wire Mill, Camden. He retired in 1962.
He was a communicant of St. Frances Church.
