Mildred S. "Millie" Holt of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania died Wednesday, April 27, 2016. She was 91 years old. Millie was born February 3, 1925 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Roland Reed Simister and the late Martha C. Simister (nee - Muchow). She is the beloved wife of the late Fred J. Holt; mother of Linda Mariani and her husband Frank, Fred Holt and his wife Ruth, and Gary Holt; grandmother of Jennifer Kerr and her husband Matthew and Lauren Mariani; great grandmother of Allison and Ava Kerr.
Millie was born, raised, and educated in Philadelphia. She was a 1943 graduate of Olney High School. While vacationing in Somers Point, NJ Millie met Fred Holt who had been serving in the United States Army during World War II. The two fell in love and were married on September 6, 1947 at St. James Methodist Church in the Olney section of Philadelphia. They settled in, and raised their family in, Northeast Philadelphia where she enjoyed playing bridge in the local Friday afternoon bridge club. Millie had worked as a clerk for First Trust for most of her working career. She enjoyed vacationing with her family at the New Jersey shore and was a longtime member of the Sea Isle Yacht Club.
