Watertown Daily Times (NY) - May 29, 1990

Robert F. Darling, 67, Smartville Road, died at 9:27 a.m. Sunday in the House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown, after a lengthy illness. Mr. Darling had been a patient there two days.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Summerville Funeral Home, Sandy Creek, with the Rev. Virgil H. Hager, pastor of the Sandy Creek First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Wesleyan Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Lynn (Caroline) Wolf, Mount Airy, N.C., and Mrs. Albert (Bonnie) Breeze, Fulton; two sons, Randy, Lee Center, and Ronnie, stationed with the Navy at Virginia Beach, Va.; 12 grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Amie Joyner, Williamstown, Mrs. Daisy Rehberg, Tribes Hill, Evelyn Darling, Richland, and Mrs. Dorothy Sampson, Gloversville, three brothers, Ivan, Gloversville, Ralph, Rome, and Raymond, Parish and several nieces and nephews.
Born Oct. 13, 1922, in Redfield, the son of Ferdinand and Violet Dean Darling, he was educated in Redfield schools and was an Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Darling was a heavy equipment operator. He was employed for 11 years by the Eastman Corp., Ellisburg, and for 25 years by the Oswego County Highway Dept., retiring in 1984.
He was a life resident of the Lacona area and a life member of Cable Trail Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8534.
