GILBERT L. "GIB" MARTIN, 96, of New Paris, OH died Friday, April 29, 2016 in Dayton, OH. Born on January 25, 1920 in Clifton, IN, he was the son of the late Herschel F. & Gladys (Johnston) Martin. He retired in 1981 after 25 years at Belden Wire & Cable in Richmond, IN. He was WW II U.S. Army Air Corp Veteran, member of the 25 year club at Belden, First Baptist Church in New Paris and the First Baptist Church of Lake Placid, FL and a 25-year member of the Carriage Travel Club.

Preceded in death by his Wife: Elsie M. (Arthur) Martin in 1989; Sisters: Maysel Martin in 1933 and Marilyn Martin in 1934; Brothers: Leo Martin in 1999 and Ivan Martin in 2004. Step Great Great Grandson: Chance Poindexter in 2015.

Survived by his wife of 25 years: Mildred Lee (Poffenbarger) Rexrode Martin; Step Children: Patricia "Pat" (Walker) Cunningham, Louisville, KY, Melody Lee (Albert) Sndyer, FL, Cathy Ann (Jim) McCann, Brookville, OH and David Allen (Becky) Rexrode, Dayton, OH; Brother: Charles Martin, Richmond, IN; 9 Step Grandchildren, 12 Step Great Grandchildren and 10 Great Great Step Grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Barnes Funeral Home, 109 West Main Street, New Paris, OH. Interment will be held in Spring Lawn Cemetery in New Paris with Military Honors will be provided by the Preble County Honor Guard.
