Robert A. Randall, 93, was born 24 April 1923 on the James Ellis farm near Frankfort and Doland, South Dakota to Matilda and Asa Randall. The family moved to Macon County, Missouri in 1934. While growing up, Robert worked on the family farm both in South Dakota and Missouri.He graduated from Macon High School in Macon, Missouri in 1941 and was inducted into the U.S. Army on February 10, 1943. He served as a surgical technician with the 55th General Army Hospital in England, then in France. During his service he was in charge of a general surgical ward of 40 patients injured in war and was honorably discharged in March, 1946.Robert married Frances G. Miller on October 20, 1946 at Zion Lutheran Church in Macon, Missouri. Following his military service, he worked for Carey McMillan Oil Company, a Shell distributorship in Macon, Missouri. Later, he worked as a trim foreman and carpenter with Wick Homes in Moberly, Missouri, traveling throughout the Midwest. In 1993, he and his wife, Gerry moved to South Carolina and worked as a part-time security guard. He was a long-time member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, an avid pheasant and quail hunter and loved fishing and woodworking.Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Frances "Gerry" Randall in 2011. Surviving are his son, Kenneth; granddaughter, Kimberly Branch; great grandchildren Kyle and Brittney Branch; sister, Esther Crellin; and nieces and nephews.
