He was born in Surry Co. on February 23, 1930 to the late David Fletcher Joyce and the late Vallie Watson Joyce.
He was of the Baptist faith.
He worked in the family business with his wife “Westside Memorials” for over 32 years.
Surviving are his two daughters and sons-in-law: Robin Joyce Cox and Jim Cox of Roanoke, VA, Crystal and Junior “Junebug” Potts of Mt. Airy, NC; son and daughter-in-law: Tony and Cindy Joyce of Mt. Airy; four grandchildren: Kevin and Savannah Joyce, Matthew Joyce, Blake Inman and fiancée Stacy Haynes, Kimberly Utt; special great-grandson, Caleb Utt; and two other great-grandchildren: Logan Joyce and Noah Inman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances Branch Joyce; sisters: Vernice Hutchens, Nora Deathridge, Bertha Holt, Myrtle Beaver, Eva Ross; brothers: Gene Joyce, Harry Joyce, Ralph Joyce, Alvin Joyce, Carnell Joyce, Pete Joyce, Bobby Joyce.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday May 3, 2016 in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral with entombment to follow in the Blues Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Roger Pickett will officiate the services.
The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson on Tuesday from 1:00 PM until the time of his service at 2:00 PM.
The family would like to give special thanks to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for the love and care given to their father.
