Bill A. Barnbrook, 87, Oblong, IL passed away at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, IL.

Bill was born in Hunt City, IL on July 28, 1928. He was the son of Charles Lawrence Barnbrook and Clara (Miller) Barnbrook. On January 22, 1956 he married Lela Luella Spencer and she survives.

Bill started working in a steel mill in Hammond, IN; Bailey Saw Mill, Robinson, IL; Musgrave Implement Co., Robinson, IL and then worked for L. S. Heath and Sons and later for Leaf Candy Company as a Security guard and later in the sanitation dept. retiring from Leaf in June 1994. Bill served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Army where he was a diesel mechanic for railroad engines for the United States Army. Bill was a lifetime member of the Crawford County V. F. W. Post #4549; member of E. M. Coulter American Legion Post #69 of Robinson, IL; Bill liked to fish, go to stock car races, watch NASCAR on TV and demolition derbies. Bill supplied all the demo cars used at the first Demo Derby at the Crawford County Fair. Bill really enjoyed helping his kids build their derby cars. He especially enjoyed collecting “Junk”.

Bill is survived by his wife Lela Barnbrook, Oblong, IL; three sons and daughters-in-law Danny and Debbie Barnbrook, Robinson, IL, Larry and Katie Barnbrook, Rockville, IN and Gary Barnbrook and fiancée Lora Wilder, Oblong, IL; three daughters and sons-in-law Rosie Vernia, Oblong, IL; Agnes and Peter Chiasson, Robinson, IL; and Jackie and Gary Murdock, Robinson, IL; 16 grandchildren Ashley, Brittney, and Jamie Barnbrook, Jordan and Logan Barnbrook, Bridgett Stewart, Alisha Courtney Morrow, Scott and Spence Vernia, Jason and T. J. Littlejohn, Garrett Lee Murdock and fiancée Diana Lucus, Randy Manhart, Joe Chiasson and William Dean Barnbrook; three brothers and sisters-in-law Orlin and Joyce Miller, Robinson, IL, Charles Lawrence and Joanie Barnbrook, Oblong, IL and Clem Barnbrook, Palestine, IL; several great grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; four step grandchildren Shannon Johnson, Connie White, Kelly Scott and Josh Shaffer; a brother-in-law Bob Slane and several nieces and nephews.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents; two daughters Clara Mae Dunlap and Marjorie Lucille Barnbrook; two brothers Robert and James Barnbrook; two sisters Ruby Barnbrook and Virginia Mikeworth; a granddaughter Amber Pruitt and a son-in-law Richard Vernia.
