She was born Oct. 27, 1926, in Indianapolis, to the late Jerry Burl and Mattie (Britt) Mansfield.
Irene was a 1944 graduate of Martinsville High School. She worked at the South Central Indiana REMC for many years as a record keeper and then was a secretary at the law office for Hugh Couch.
Irene had attended Liberty Christian Church in Martinsville and was a member of the Union Congregational Church in Avon Park, Florida. When she was residing in Painted Hills, she was active with the Ladies of The Lakes Homemakers Club. She and her husband spent winters in Sebring, Florida, at the Crystal Lake Park for 15 years.
Irene enjoyed needlepoint, reading and baking for her family.
Survivors are her husband, Nicholas W. Poehler, whom she married April 16, 1949; sons, Robert Poehler(Linda), Steven Poehler(Diane); brother, Jerry Mansfield(Bernie); sisters Norma Adkins(Larry), Alice Fleener(Chet)and Mary Hadley(Charlie); grandchildren, Angela Corogin(Weston), Justin Poehler(Bridgette), Nathan Pohler, Andrew Pohler(Brittany), Sarah Buck(Geoffrey); step-grandchildren, Richie Williams(Kelley)and Robin Schmadeke(Rick); great grandsons, Gavin Poehler and Landon Poehler; step-great-grandchildren, Erica Schmadeke, Brooke Schmadeke and Jackson Williams.
Irene also was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Mansfield and sisters, Anna Mansfield and Marjorie Mansfield.

A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Costin Funeral Chapel in Martinsville. Visitation will be from noon to service time. Entombment will be at Nebo Memorial Park.
