B. W. Nicola, 76, died suddenly at his home in Los Angeles, California at 5 p.m. Saturday as the result of a heart attack. His son L. B. Nicola left Sunday morning for the western coast. "Death came to Mr. Nicola on the eve of his 77th birthday. After living in Norfolk for six years, Mr. and Mrs. Nicola in 1920 moved to the western coast. Two years ago they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Mr. Nicola was born in Pennsylvania, Aug. 28, 1850, moving with his parents to Washington county, Iowa, where he lived the most of his life. In 1875 he was married to Miss Ida Richards of Washington, Iowa. Mr. Nicola had nine brothers and one sister, most of whom reside in various parts of Iowa. Mrs. Nicola, who survives her husband, has been in failing health for several years. Plans are to bring the body back to Norfolk for burial." Benjamin W. Nicola, 76, funeral was held Saturday at the home of his son L. B. Nicola with burial in Prospect Hill cemetery. "Among those who attended the funeral were two aged brothers: the Rev. Henry Nicola _ _ * of Battle Creek, Michigan; Zalmon Nicola, 92, of College View, Nebraska; also the Rev. L. T. Nicola, 72, of Battle Creek, Michigan, son of Henry Nicola and Amos, Nicola, Scottsbulff, sons of Zalmon Nicola.

"Benjamin W. Nicola was born in Pennsylvania in 1850. He was one of ten children. The Nicola family is noted for the longevity of its members. Five of he children celebrated golden wedding anniversaries. Last year Mr. and Mrs. Henry Nicola celebrated their seventieth wedding anniversary. Since that time Mrs. Nicola has passed away. Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Nicola were the last of the five couples to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary.

Besides his two brothers, Mr. Nicola is survived by his wife, and son. L. B. Nicola. Mrs. Nicola and Mrs. A. J. Durland are the daughters of the late Dr. G. B. Richards, pioneer doctor of Norfolk, who came to this city in the early eighties. He was the builder of the Richards block on Norfolk avenune. Mrs. Nicola will make her future home in Norfolk. Mr. Nicola for several years lived at Seattle, Washington, later coming to Norfolk where he resided for five years. About seven years ago he moved to the western coast where he resided until the time of his death."
