Jesse Robert Gray
Mr. Gray passed away on March 27, 2016 at Bendale Personal Care Home, in Bendale, MS.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Bertha Jane Gray; a special daughter-in-law, Theresa M. Wright; one son, Tim Gray (Janice); one step son, Harvey Wright; six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Edna V. Day.
Mr. Gray was born in Wilkes Barre, PA on January 2, 1932. He attended and graduated from Norwich Academy in Norwich CT.
He was one of the founding members of Boy Scout Troop 275, and was leader of the troop.
He was deputized in August of 1969 when marshal - law was put into effect after Hurricane Camille hit the MS Gulf Coast; he was a charter member of Gulf Park Estates Fire Department; a member of IBEW Local 733, where he was very active in the Union; a member of and choir director at Bell Fountain Baptist Church; a member of First Baptist Church of Vancleave where he and Jane were married; and was a member of Magnolia Baptist Church of Vancleave in his later years.
Jesse served his country in the USAF for 12 years before settling here at KAFB and later making Ocean Springs, and then Vancleave his home.
He worked off shore for many years, then went to work at Ingalls Shipbuilding where he was a chief steward at his retirement age.
