Norma's Story

MARYVILLE, Tenn. — Norma Virginia McCarthy, 89, died Friday, October 17, 2014 at her residence. Born November 28, 1924 in Premier, WV where she grew up and graduated high school. She moved from Princeton to Maryland outside of Washington, DC where she worked as a secretary for many years. She then moved to Florida where she lived for over 40 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Essma Perkey, by her husband, Marvin W. “Bill” McCarthy. Survivors include one son, Vance “Sonny” Tessner and wife Tina (with whom she made her home for the last four months) of Maryville, TN. Her sisters, Marge Talley of Port Richey, FL, Joy Yowell of Wesley Chapel, FL, her brothers, John “Buck” Perkey of Spring Hill, FL, and Nelson Perkey of St. Petersburg, FL, six grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Friends may call at Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Friday, October 24, 2014. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
