Mary Jane Dumire Hedrick, age 87 years, a resident of the Holly Meadows Community, Parsons, WV departed this life Sunday evening, October 3, 2021, at Holbrook Health Care Center at Buckhannon, WV.

She had been in declining health for the past seven years.

She was born Tuesday, August 7, 1934, at Parsons, WV, a daughter of the late Hugh Gilbert and Eva Marie Jones Dumire.

On November 15, 1952, at Parsons, WV, she was married to Carl Marshall Hedrick, who preceded her in death October 20, 2005.

Surviving are two sons, Allen Carl "Strike" Hedrick of Blackman Flats and David Marshall Hedrick of Holly Meadows; one daughter, Mary Louise Donato and husband Mike of Martinsburg; six grandchildren, Sarah Kitchen, Scott Hedrick, Ethan Hedrick, Andrew Donato, Mary Donato and Annessa Ray; three step-grandchildren, Summer Davis, Sidney and Sean Simmons; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death is one brother, Edward Allen Dumire.

She was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1952.

She worked in county government for many years, starting her career in the Circuit Clerks Office.

She served as Sheriff of Tucker County from 1969 to 1972.

She served as the first Magistrate Court Clerk in Tucker County from January 1, 1976, for twenty years, until her retirement in 1996.

She worked the family dairy farm alongside her husband and her son.

She belonged to the Farm Women's Club, was a 4-H Leader for over forty years.

She served as Secretary for the Tucker Co. Farm Bureau.

She was a church youth group leader, director of many vacation bible schools and leader of Tucker Co. 4-H camps and church camps.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Parsons.

She was very supportive of her children and grandchildren, from the PHS athletic boosters to PHS band boosters to little league to Tucker Valley Cross Country, Mary Jane could be found to help with fund raising, transportation, and general team Mom or Granny.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Thursday from 4 PM to 7 PM.

Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, October 8, 2021, at 11 AM.

The Reverend William R. Brown will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, WV.

The family suggest that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the; Tucker Co 4-H, Tucker County Court House, 215 First Street, Parsons, WV 26287 or the charity of your choice.
